Steamship Trips Available! Enjoy a sail on the historic Sir Walter Scott Steamship. This is a unique way to enjoy the beauty of the Trossachs, combining a stunning loch cruise with a scenic bike ride. Although the cycling is on a private road with very few if any cars, there are a few hills.
Its a wonderful day out and a unique experience not to be missed on any trip to Scotland.
You can take your rental bike on board The Sir Walter Scott Steamship, ‘Lady of the Lake’ or Rob Roy III for a sail up Loch Katrine to Stronachlachar, then cycle back on the private road (14 miles, 22km almost traffic free) along the scenic banks of Loch Katrine. With hire bikes for adults and kids it’s the perfect family day out.
Electric bikes are a fantastic way to explore this route and take the sting out of the hills! (note minimum age is 14 for ebike hire)
How to Book
Prebooking of the boat is essential, please let them know you have hire bikes from us so they can leave space. (Please note There is a £3 charge per bike payable to the boat company)
Once you have the booking confirmed, contact us with your requirements, date of trip, time and approx. heights of all the riders. Its usually a 4 hour hire you need for this trip.
Please note space on the boat for bikes is limited and you must let the boat company know you have hire bikes and whether that are standard or electric bikes.
Sailing departure from Trossachs Pier is normally 10.30am and we suggest you arrive at our Bike Hire cabin around 9.30-9.45am to collect your bikes. Save time and prebook your bikes online.
Its also possible to do the route in reverse by cycling from Loch Katrine and catching the 3.30pm boat back from Stronachlachar, but you must book the boat to ensure they have space. Suggested pick up time for the bikes on the afternoon sailing back is 12.45pm from the Bike Hire Cabin at Trossachs pier.
Its normally a four hour rental for the cycle and sail trip.
